However, I was wondering whether you might be interested in something related to the use of computer science and artificial intelligencefor the purpose of economic history. Also related to our funding proposal but involving computer scientists from the University of Regensburg (Prof. Dr. Meike Klettke), we are currently running pilot projects with Regensburg based Master students on using AI. In one such case, we are trying to reconstruct a Vienna stock market exchange index 1885-1914 automatically with the help of OCR technology. The idea is to cut down the time required to construct such an index by 75% - 90% - not a small feast. I mention this example because it is very instructive of how the methodology works and what the potential for economic history is. It would lend itself for a short presentation at your conference and I hope your researchers would find it useful. There are other IT pilot projects we run (mainly in the realm of natural language processing) and if you preferred some of this, I would be happy to discuss the details with you. An overview is also possible, but very often specific examples are the easiest way to impress an audience of the power of the modern technologies available.
