The article discusses cultural fonds held by the public archives of Slovenia. It focuses on the number of these fonds within the four classes in the classification scheme of fonds and collections. In each class, the most interesting (special, most important)fonds are also highlighted, as selected by competent archivists. Just as these fonds are diverse in their origin (namely, they include archival material from cultural societies, theatres, museums, archives, cultural organisations, etc.), their content is also diverse, as they contain both records and multimedia material. At the end of the article, new acquisitions of this type of material by competent archives and the problems archivists encounter in their daily work with cultural institutions are presented.
