Description
In the period immediately following the war (1945—1960) a great advancement in the field of education of deaf youth can be noticed. Already in 1946 a professional (vocational) school was established for variousi professions attached to the Institution for the Deaf, and eventually the Workshop for the Deaf (Učne delavnice), established in 1948, became a well-organized working organization in 1963. The number of pupils and boarding-pupils was increasing, new departments were opened, the audio-logical schooling, which was somewhat neglected before the Second World War, also began. In the fifties new apparatuses were purchased and with it new possibilities for better qualification of deaf youth were made. In 1947 the Association of the Deaf became alive again, and it began to take care for its members entering into a profession. In 1960 the surdo-section for Slovenia also became active.
