Basing his research on archival sources and literature, the author discusses the history of medieval Jewish communities in the Slovenian part of Styria. Most of preserved documentary sources about the Jews refer to the city of Maribor and deal with economic activities of the Jewish community, mostly commerce and money-lending, as well as with the social position of the Jews in Styrian towns. He describes the anti-Jewish restrictive policies imposed by the territorial princes from the beginning of the 15lh century onwards, which finally led to their expulsion in the year 1496.
