The author presents, on the basis of parish immatriculation registers, the bearers of Slovenska Bistrica civil construction between the middle of the 17th and the end of the 19th century. He finds that, in spite of two fires in the last quarter of the 18th century, the activity went on relatively without disturbance. With regard to its mode of organisation, it formed part of the Maribor guild association. In spite of the organisation subjugation, the civil construction industry was numerically strong, which is proved by a long series of men in the civil construction occupations, including masons, carpenters and stonemasons with their families present in the urban life. Their activity had mostly not surpassed the expanded local dimensions.
