The author attempts, on the basis of study of documentary material, analysis of names of individual toponyms, which appear in the medieval period, and particularly by the inclusion of knowledge, which pursue form of systematic field reviews, to supplement the thus far attained knowledge on the medieval topography of the Šalek valley. Historična topografija Slovenske Štajerske (The Historical Topography of Slovenian Styria) by Pavel Blaznik serves as his basis.
