The author ascertains, on the basis of historical sources, that civil engineering of Brežice achieved its most active period in the XVI century, whereas in the following centuries, including the XIX century, it did not surpass an average level. The court building, the two churches, the Franciscan monastery, the city hall, the hospital, the National Hall and the German Hall can be considered exceptions, with respect to the last finding.
