The castle of Valdek in the region of Slovenj Gradec of the patriarch of Oglej (Aquilea) helped to command over the thoroughfare from its excellently chosen site between the Paka and Mislinja and towards Vitanje. Near it the traffic was twice as heavy as that over Muta along the Drava. The middlesized manorial estate, belonging to it, had passed for a feud of the provincial sovereign already since 1361.
