Časopis za zgodovino in narodopisje

Melje (Melnich) has been first mentioned in the year 1164 together with the fortress of Maribor, below which the country prince and the monastery of St. Paul had their possession, and their knights holding government posts had their seat in Melje. Those lords from Melje are considered as the founders of the Maltese commendam, mentioned first in the year 1217, with domanial possession in the place itself, with vineyards on the adjoining hills and with subjects in Melje, Razvanje and Radlje.
