Description
The article deals with the immigration from the former Yugoslav republics to Slovenia during socialism. In doing so, the author seeks to demonstrate how this immigration was accepted by the majority population. With a growing influx of members of other Yugoslav peoples arriving in Slovenia in search of better earnings and a better life, questions regarding their immigration and employment were raised. Slovenes’ reserved attitude towards immigrants, which was initially impacted particularly by cultural and linguistic differences, strengthened in the 1980s due to the deepening political and economic crisis with which Yugoslavia was faced.
