Women’s mountaineering course in Vrata valley in 1949 was the first climbing course on our soil, organized exclusively for women. Given the limited capabilities of the post-war generation of Slovenian mountaineers, it was well organized and offered the best mountaineering lecturers as instructors available at the time. At the same time, the course also showed the subordination of the role of women in the alpinism of the post-war period and the deficiencies that are unacceptable from the present point of view.
