The road network of the 18th century was a logical consequence of that from the 17th century, which was conditioned by the preponderance of the passenger over the freight traffic. Its main stimulus was transit traffic between the Danube Basin and Pannonia and the northern Adriatic. Most of the traffic was taken over by the “traffic road” between Slovenska Bistrica and Postojna, which developed a link-road via Konjice at the expense of that via Loče. In the course of the century the roads did not see only the changes in the laying-outs, but also technical improvements; both postal and passenger traffic were introduced, service trades and inns offering accommodation spread.
