The article deals with the education of girls at the Craft and Vocational School for
Women in Ljubljana from its founding in 1888, to 1918. The aim of the school was to
train women in embroidery and lacery skills and thus give the cottage industry in
Carniola a fresh impulse. At the beginning, the school had only two departments, i.e.
the department of embroidery and the department of needlepoint lace. Later, the
school expanded with the department of bobbin lace, and in the early 20th century
with the underwear and clothes departments.
